INTRODUCING MONIQUE VAN DER POL (MONO)
Born and raised in Amsterdam, Monique left at the age of 21 to travel and live in such exotic places as N.Y., San Francisco, India and Barcelona. She has been a belly dance and burlesque performer since 1999 and has over five years experience as a belly dance teacher.
Monique is also a costume designer, illustrator and tattoo artist who has worked as a professional tattooist for twelve years.
Monique has studied various styles of dance including oriental and tribal fusion style belly dancing, Indian, bollywood, burlesque and African dance. She has studied the methods of suhaila salimpour(u.s.a),raqia hassan (egypt) and has been taught by Shafeek Ibrahim and Heather Burby (u.k).
Her favourite dancers are Randa Kamel and Fifi Abdo.
Monique is currently involved with the tv3 show ‘inside and out’ as a belly dance and burlesque teacher.
